Getting Started

Creating this blog was very easy after making a email address specifically for this class requirement. It took less than five minutes to create the new email and sign into Blogger using it. For this Art Inquiry course, I hope to learn more about the meanings behind pieces of art, and the different techniques that make each piece special. Even though this is an online course, I feel it will be manageable and provide time to truly understand the material, especially when art gallery visits are integrated into the class. Personally, I have never struggled with any online classes, and they provide a less stressful environment than an in class setting. From the videos provided, the three things that I feel apply most to me are the subjects of determination, making sacrifices and learning from failures. I have always been a good student, and when I transitioned from high school to college, there was the fear that I would not be able to keep up with all of my assignments and get the help that was needed to achieve good grades. With determination and hard work, I received my associates degree and was on the Dean's list every semester. During those first two years of college and even now, many sacrifices had to be made. Having a job during classes just wasn't a good fit for me, and I couldn't go out with friends as much as I wish I could have. Even though these sacrifices were made, it helped to achieve my goal of keeping my grades high and graduating with my two year degree. Also, failures were part of the process. My first college essay I only got a C and could not understand what I did wrong. By asking questions and getting extra help, I was able to fix the paper and finish the class off with an A-. I failed, but I learned from it and was able to succeed.
