Response to Peers

Observing peers artworks and projects is interesting and insightful because we can all see things in different perspectives. One of the peer blogs I observed was https://faithartfundamentals.blogspot.com/ . The first project was to showcase the different elements and principles within a series of photographs. This individual did this very well, and I enjoyed the different ideas that she captured. One of the elements that was depicted well was the one for texture. Not only does the flower have texture, but the water has its own look of texture as well. What could also be said about this photo is that it provides contrast as well. The difference between the flower and water are prominent, which shows the contrast between the two things. Each of this individuals photos represents an element or principle very well, but other elements and principles can always be found in these as well because the world showcases so many. For the art gallery project, this writer and the individual shared one artwork in common and that was the Fire, Holland, NY. We both would like to know more about it, but for different reasons. I would like to know the emotions behind the piece, but they would like to know more about it because of the recent tragedies that have been occurring over the past few years. One of the images that this individual reflected on piques my interest, and that is of the winter scene. I may have missed this when visiting the same art gallery, but I relate to it. It reminds me of back home in the finger lakes. No city sounds, and just very peaceful. I always would like to know how these pieces of artwork make the artist feel.

Another blog I observed was https://firstblogaed200.blogspot.com/. This individual also showcased the different elements and principles well. One that I enjoyed was the one for space. Not only is it pleasing to the eye, but it shows the exact same space between each chair and then the space between the deck and the water and sky. This picture could have represented color as well because of the sun in the background. For the art gallery visit, this individual went to a different gallery than myself. The artworks they chose were very interesting, especially the one labeled "Hollow". This one sticks out because of its precision and overall sense of beauty.

Reading peer reflections is helpful in the learning process because it can help you to develop your own perception even more. I can see what they see in their photographs, but I can also see my own idea as well. Since everyone looks at the world through their own lens, it can be hard to branch out and see new ideas. By looking at peer work, the lens can be opened to even greater things. This goes for comments made by peers as well. There comment can help you to see something you did not realize in your own work.
